Twenty-six years ago, I reached out to Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers. I needed help. It is said that when the student is ready, the teacher appears. I was ready. And LCL was there. I was connected to other lawyers in recovery that told me what it was like for them, what happened, and what it was like now. I felt something that I had not felt in quite some time. Hope. That began a long association that I will now carry forward in my role as the new Executive Director of LCL. I was told early in my recovery that it is about the journey not the destination. What a journey it has been. And what a journey it will be. I am filled with hope for the future of LCL. We have great staff and a dedicated team of LCL volunteers and countless other allies in the Minnesota legal community. We could not do what we do without the generous support of so many. We support the profession. And we support you. If you or anyone you know is struggling with anything that is causing stress or distress, please call LCL. We are here for you when the going gets rough and even on the darkest of days. If you ask me how I know that it is because that is what I found when I finally picked up the phone to ask for help. And so will you. I look forward to continuing the good work of LCL in promoting the health of the profession and its participants and to working with many of you in that shared endeavor. Peace.
